We acknowledge the uniqueness and potential of all children and meet the needs of each individual child. We demonstrate understanding and acceptance when dealing with challenging behaviour and support children to express their feelings, develop confidence in self-advocation and feel safe to use their voice.

We are proactive in helping children build on the strengths and skills they bring to our service. We identify areas of need and work together with each family to achieve individual milestones and goals. We support children to develop a strong sense of identity, agency and belonging, and encourage them to communicate their ideas, preferences and concerns in an environment where they know they will be listened to and respected. We provide children with a regular routine where they are given adequate time for meals and rest, and we offer experiences that give each child the opportunity to explore music and movement, language, science and art.

Our programs are led by children’s interests, with opportunities to interact with nature and the world around them. All children have an equal opportunity to learn and are respected and not discriminated against regardless of gender, age, ability, economic status, family structure, ethnicity, lifestyle, religion, culture or language. We encourage children to learn about and celebrate differences between themselves, families and communities and promote positive self-esteem in all children. We ensure families with additional needs are included and offered support, guidance and assistance as needed.

We make decisions together with families to ensure children are learning to their best ability and are safe and supported in all aspects of their wellbeing.

We guide and support families in their role while also learning from them to achieve the best outcomes for children. We ensure children and families feel included and welcome by celebrating cultural and religious events and acknowledging and respecting beliefs. We implement experiences in our program to educate children about the differences within each family in our service and community. We provide the highest quality care every day to help each child achieve the best possible outcomes. We follow our philosophy to guide our programming and practice.

We support children in developing an appreciation for the environment and sustainable practices to protect and preserve our world. We aim to foster a sense of wonder, belonging and love of Country, including the land, nature and animals so that children develop a lifelong, respectful relationship and a positive, proactive attitude toward the environment and a sustainable future.

Butterflies Childcare & Early Learning Centre is committed to continuous improvement and maintains a culture of ongoing reflection and self-review. Effective evaluation and reflection enable us to continuously improve our policies, procedures and practices, including those that support child safety and wellbeing. We maintain a strong child safe culture through ongoing professional learning, reflective practice and accountability. This continual improvement strengthens our practice and contributes directly to improved learning and wellbeing outcomes for children.
